When?

When did we stop being humans? When did we start disregarding human contact so much that we rather type than speak? When did we end up so virtually connected that we did not realize how physically disconnected we have become? Is it a useful device or does it use us? When does it stop being a need and start becoming an addiction?

The Observer.

In order to fully understand the creation process of 'Unplugged', one has to have at least minimal understanding of the person who created it.
There are many different types of people in the world. Each of us has different character, mentality and features. Who we are or what we are like often seems to be based on those differences. I am the observer type of person. I observe the world around me, people and interesting situations that often happen in our daily lives.
Coming from a small village in Poland shaped me to appreciate little things in life. Not having access to developing technologies resulted in high value for a human contact. As years were passing, and technologies slowly started to creep into my life I noticed the shift. Not only within myself but also reality around me.
I was still observing but what I was seeing was completely different. More and more various devices started to take over people's attention and less and less human contact was needed. There was more typing and sending than talking and seeing. A short catch up over coffee with a friend cannot happen without the phone at the table. A simple family dinner cannot occur without it being interrupted by a 'beep' of a new message.
Few years ago I was in Greece for the summer with my family. We stopped at a local cafe for a refreshment. The beautiful sun, sea and sandy beach, ultimate holiday surrounding. I then saw a family of 4, sat at one of the tables, each absolutely absorbed by their phones. And then I thought when did this happen?
